About Our Founders

Denny & Cathy Hardee – Founders of Light The Night Ministries

We introduce to you the founders of Light The Night Ministries-Denny and Cathy Hardee.    After retiring from the car dealership industry in 2010, both Denny and Cathy began looking for ways to serve within their community-to change their focus from “success to significance”!  (From the book “Half-time” by Bob Buford).

In 2012, Denny realized the need to reach the youth of our community in bringing them into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Considering our rural area and many small churches with no youth pastor, budget for one or a formal youth program, he began to research setting up a non-profit organization that could raise money to host faith-based community wide events for youth.    After talking with many people whom they felt would be supportive of this endeavor, they invited several parents that were already actively working with youth at their churches to attend a meeting to discuss their ideas.

This meeting was held in the spring of 2012, and our first rally was held in August! God has blessed this ministry with generous supporters, numerous volunteers and thousands of youth over the years.

Denny and Cathy live in South Hill, VA and have two sons, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
